It is suitable for quick academic visits such as a semester lecture, a workshop, or a brief research project. The program cannot be extended beyond 6 months, and participants cannot change their category to a long-term Research Scholar.

Essential Requirements

The applicant must be a university professor, researcher, or expert in an academic or professional field.

Must obtain an official invitation from an accredited American university or institution.

The purpose must not be to fill a permanent or long-term employment position.

Proficiency in English at a level enabling academic communication.

A valid passport.

Receive Form DS-2019 from the sponsoring organization.

Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee ($220 USD).

Complete the DS-160 online application form.

Pay the visa fee ($185 USD).

Book an appointment at the U.S. Embassy.

Attend the interview and submit documents.

Travel to the United States and participate in the program.
