This program aims to promote academic and intellectual exchange between American universities and their counterparts worldwide, including Jordanian and Arab universities. It allows professors to teach, lecture, participate in seminars, or conduct joint research in the United States for a temporary period, contributing to the transfer of knowledge and expertise between academic institutions.

Essential Requirements

The applicant must be a university professor or academic with proven experience in teaching or research.

Must not have participated in the J-1 Professor or Research Scholar program during the last 24 months.

Must not have resided in the U.S. on another J-1 program for more than 12 months preceding the current program start (with certain exceptions).

Obtain an official invitation or cooperation agreement from an accredited American university or institution.

A valid passport for the entire duration of the program.

Proof of financial ability to cover living expenses if not fully funded by the host institution.

Receive Form DS-2019 from the sponsoring organization.

Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee.

Complete the DS-160 online application form.

Pay the visa fee ($185 USD).

Book an appointment at the U.S. Embassy.

Attend the personal interview and submit the required documents.

Receive the visa and travel to the United States.

Teaching must be at university level

Health insurance coverage mandatory

Regular course evaluations and reports

Cannot change teaching assignment without approval
